FITNESS-monitoring gadgets are gaining ground in the domestic market on the back of increasing healthy lifestyle among the populace, according to a local distributor of personal activity tracker.
“In the Philippines the fitness-tracking device market is still relatively small compared to other preceding products like the exercise equipment, shoes, or heart rate monitors. Actually, it just picked up a year or two globally,” Waido Marketing and Distribution Sales Manager Johann Tiu told reporters at the sidelines of Misfit Shine media launch in Taguig City.
Since the Philippine distribution of the fitness product in June, he noted an “overwhelming reception” for the brand across all Power Mac Center, Rustan’s and Mobile One stores nationwide.
Without citing details, he said sales have been “better than expected” mainly due to the growing health awareness in the country.
Power Mac Center recently launched Misfit Shine as additional third-party products carried throughout its retail locations.
This fitness device boasts of a sleek and compact design, with functionality to accurately record the user’s varying physical activities like walking, running, swimming or sleeping and their progress on a daily basis.
Inspiring Apple users in the country to enhance their daily fitness experience, Misfit Shine is iOS compatible, allowing users to sync it with their iPhone, iPad, iPad mini or iPod touch. It’s cloud-based that stored data could be accessed again even in case of a gadget loss.
Available in jet, gray, topaz and champagne hues, it is waterproof and wearable using rubberized plastic wristband.
“We’re confident that it will become more known in the Philippines, hopefully, in the near future because everyone is getting more health conscious,” Tiu said, while citing plans to bring Misfit Shine to other Apple resellers and gadget stores nationwide.
